Wedding Morning Preparation Guide

Your wedding morning is the start of one of the most special days of your life. In my over 24 years of experience, I’ve fine-tuned these wedding morning tips to ensure everything feels calm, enjoyable, and stress-free.

A little thoughtful planning really does make all the difference. Here are my tried-and-true recommendations to help your morning flow beautifully:

 Skin Preparation

  • Exfoliate gently the night before for smooth, glowing skin.

  • Cleanse and moisturise in the morning.

  • Skip the SPF if you’ve been advised to (it can sometimes affect photos).

  • Arrive makeup-free so I can create the perfect base.

  • If you wear contact lenses, please take them out before your makeup.

 Clothing & Environment

  • Pop on a button-down or zip-up top so you don’t disturb your hair or makeup later.

  • Try to keep some space tidy with a clear table for products and tools that your makeup artist and hairdresser can use.

  • Natural light works best for applying makeup, so a spot near a window is perfect.

  • Steam your dresses and veil the night before—it always takes longer than you think.

  • Remove any tags from dresses and stickers from the soles of shoes the night before, so everything is photo-ready.

  • Break in your wedding shoes with a few 20–30 minute walks at home so you’re comfortable from the start.

Timing

  • Print a simple morning schedule so everyone knows what’s happening when.

  • Be ready in the chair at your time slot.

  • Let your bridal party know the timings too so everything runs smoothly.

  • Leave a little buffer for touch-ups before you get into your dress.

  • If you’re giving emotional gifts, do it the night before or before makeup starts—it helps keep happy tears from affecting your look.

Bridal Party Tips

  • Share this guide with bridesmaids, mums, and anyone else having hair or makeup.

  • Everyone should arrive with clean, dry hair and makeup-free faces.

 Final Touches

  • Have your veil, jewellery, and lipstick nearby for those last finishing touches.

  • Place any sentimental jewellery, accessories, or heirlooms together so your photographer can capture them beautifully before you wear them.

  • Stay hydrated, have some light snacks, and keep your phone close for quick check-ins (but avoid long calls during hair and makeup).
